Online Crime Reporting
Citizens are encouraged to take advantage of technology to report minor crimes through the Dayton Police Department’s Online Crime Reporting System: www.daytonohiopolice.com. This customer convenient approach eliminates the need for residents to wait for a Police Officer to arrive at the scene. Instead, citizens simply can supply the relevant information through the website, where a Detective reviews the information and determines follow up action. The online reporting system should be used only for non-violent crimes with no suspect information available, and the crime falls within one of the following eight categories: fraud; harassing phone calls; identity theft; lost property; accidental property damage; theft (non-vehicle); theft from vehicles; or vandalism. Citizens without Internet access can also choose to report non-emergency crimes over the phone by calling 333-COPS (2677). Crimes in progress or other emergency situations should still be reported through the normal 9-1-1 police dispatch function.
